What’s In My Diaper Bag

Must-Have Essentials and My Go-To Products

As a busy mom, I know how important a well-stocked diaper bag is. In these last few months, I have discovered some essentials for my diaper bag. Having the right products makes all the difference. Today I am sharing what is in my diaper bag, along with my personal product recommendations. Plus, you can download my free checklist which will help you remember what to pack!

Why a Well-Stocked Diaper Bag Is Essential

Recently, my son was in the ER and had a blowout. I had an outfit for him, but it was two sizes too small. I couldn’t snap all the buttons. He was fine but I was a bit embarrassed. This made me decide to be more thorough in keeping my bag stocked! I also have run out of diapers while on the go, which is a complete nightmare.

My Diaper Bag Essentials & Product Recommendations

1. The Diaper Bag Itself

You need a diaper bag to pack one! When I was pregnant with my son, I found the number of diaper bag options overwhelming. I settled on this diaper bag from BabbleRoo. It’s affordable, has tons of pockets, and can be worn as a backpack! It’s also cute and fashionable. My favorite part is that it comes with a changing pad and pacifier holder.

2. Diapers & Wipes

  • Extra Diapers: I never leave home without extra diapers. I prefer to use Huggies Little Snugglers since they are reliable
  • and absorbent. Also, I love the Winnie the Pooh prints on the diapers. Since that is the theme of my son’s nursery.
  • Wipes: A full pack of wipes is essential. I love Pampers Free and Gentle since they are plant-based. They also do not irritate my son’s skin.
  • Diaper Cream: Using diaper cream on the go can be so messy. This is why I only use spray diaper cream when I am out. It’s much easier to apply, and small enough to fit in my diaper bag. I use a diaper cream from BOOGIE. It is affordable and helps treat and prevent diaper rash!

3. Health & Safety

  • Hand Sanitizer: After changing a blowout, you’ll want a fast way to clean your hands. I like this six-pack from Amazon so you can keep a few extra around the house too.
  • Trash Bags: For smelly diapers on the go, I always use Ubbi’s trash bags. They mask the smell of the diaper. Also, the bags are cute! I like the lavender-scented ones.
  • Changing Pad: Changing diapers in public is often frustrating. Public changing tables are so gross. This is when my diaper bag roll-up changing pad comes to the rescue.
  • Medications: I always like to be prepared. I keep essentials like saline spray (from Little Remedies) and a suction bulb in my bag. Just in case my baby is under the weather.

4. Feeding Supplies

  • Nursing Cover: If you breastfeed and prefer a cover, this Muslin nursing cover is perfect. I picked it because it lets me see my baby while feeding. It is difficult to get a good latch with a newborn without seeing them.
  • Bottles: Sometimes I bring a bottle for my baby if I don’t have anywhere to sit down and feed him. I had the hardest time finding a bottle that my son would take. After trying multiple brands The Evenflo Balance bottles are the ones my baby took to the best!

5. Clothing & Accessories

  • Bibs: With my baby going through around nine bibs a day, I need extra. I like bandana-style bibs for their snug fit and style. Check out these cute options here.
  • Blanket: I always carry a lightweight blanket for my baby. These MomCozy blankets are a great option.
  • Outfits: After the ER mishap with the outfit that was too small, I now always pack extra sleepers. Just make sure to update your bag with the right size! I recently purchased these adorable Bamboo sleepers.
  • Wet/Dry Bag: When an outfit gets dirty or wet you’ll want somewhere to store it until you get home. I adore this cute option from Bumbkins.

6. Miscellaneous Must-Haves

  • Ring Sling: I never leave the house without my ring sling. It saves my back during feedings. It also can be used as a nursing cover. My most recent carrier purchase was from Little Zen One. Also, don’t miss my $20 off coupon code: LAUREN637.
  • Pacifiers & Clips: My baby won’t sleep without a pacifier, so I always pack My baby will only take the Phillips Avent pacifiers. I use these compatible clips (check these out) to keep from losing them.
  • Car Seat Cover: When my son naps in his car seat, a cover helps prevent unwanted attention. It also helps keep him asleep I love it since it also doubles as a nursing cover—grab one here.
